Robert Mitchum’s inauspicious debut. He plays a grunt in an outlaw gang that’s fled into Oklahoma, where Texas sheriff Hopalong “Hoppy” Cassidy, played by William Boyd, lacks jurisdiction. Mitchum’s part amounts to a single forgettable line.

William Boyd returns as Hopalong Cassidy, now a Texas Ranger who uncovers a shady mining town controlled by a despotic mayor, played by Russell Simpson.

Blood on the Moon is a solid western buoyed by some great dialog, a strong supporting cast, and a smooth performance by Robert Mitchum.

I usually warn folks when I’m going to spoil plot points, but in the case of Where Danger Lives, I don’t think it matters. This is one of those films where the hero takes the entire movie to deduce what the audience figures out in the first ten minutes.

Things get complicated when Mitchum starts to fall for Scott’s wife, played by Ursula Thiess. Great location photography, a strong supporting cast, and a short running time make for a surprisingly good adventure. Just don’t think too much about how the characters keep finding each other.

Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison is an enjoyable film built around a solid script and great performances from the leads.

He urges Mike to take the list to British Intelligence. Mike declines, saying he doesn’t want to get involved. Later, while out with a friend, Mike discovers the list in his jacket. Mike attempts to unload the list to another Greek agent, but Gestapo agents are already on Mike’s tail. They force him to flee through the darkened back streets of Athens. Mike escapes by hitching a ride on a British convoy.

Sprawling drama sees Mitchum as the wealthiest and most powerful man in his small southern town whose womanizing ways have driven a wedge between himself and estranged wife Parker. Hamilton plays their sheltered son and the plot kicks in when Mitchum decides to take over raising the boy in an attempt to make Hamilton more like Mitchum’s trusted ranch hand, Rafe, played by Peppard.

In 1941, aimless Irishman Mitchum drifts into the local contingent of the IRA, where he’s sent on a raid meant to coincide with the Nazi invasion of England, but things don’t go as planned.
