Performer (2 titles)

  1. Big City Blues (1932)

3 Stars (out of 5) I watched Big City Blues because it features an early, uncredited performance from Humphrey Bogart. Given the film’s obscurity, my expectations were low.

  2. For the Defense (1930)

3 Stars (out of 5) For the Defense stars William Powell as Bill Foster. Bill is a slick defense lawyer famous for using any technicality or loophole to get his clients an acquittal, despite their obvious guilt. He’s so well-respected in the underworld that, when his car’s stolen, the crooks return it after getting a look at the registration.
